Who we are

Welcome to Grace Iranian Church! Here is some information to help you better understand us.

Grace: Simply explained, grace is getting good  things that we don’t deserve. Because we are sinners we understand that none of us deserve to be in God’s holy presence.  But by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, He has provided a way for us to be with Him.  This is grace.  And it is this grace that makes possible all our worship and ministry. Starting with the pastors and other leaders and continuing to the youngest believer in our community,  it is all by His beautiful and undeserved grace.

Iranian: Likely the communities of Los Angeles surrounding Grace Iranian Church have a higher concentration of Iranians than anywhere outside of Iran.  It is our special purpose to provide a Farsi-speaking church community where Iranians can come and hear about the good news of Jesus Christ in their heart language. God is drawing Persians to have opportunity to worship, grow and serve as together we seek to ever expand God’s honor and glory in our own lives, the life of our church, and the world –particularly the Persian world– outside our doors.

Church: The church universal, built on Jesus Christ, exists to bring glory to God. And God is actively at work filling the church with His eternal and infinite glory, a work He will continue until Jesus’ glory fills all in all, as the Bible declares.

Grace Iranian Church is a local manifestation of God’s activity, through the person and work of Jesus Christ, the activity to glorify His name among the Iranian people of Los Angeles and, Lord willing, far beyond.

As a church we strive to always remember and obey Romans 11:36 that, “from Him, and through Him and to Him are all things.” This means that God is the source of our faith, our salvation, our message, our sanctification, our worship; He is the power that not only initiates but also sustains all activity, growth and service of every kind; and ultimately, because this is for His glory, He is the destination for which all the victories of Grace Iranian Church will return. In His mercy and by His power, this is both the present identity and future destination of Grace Iranian Church.

Oversees vision and teaching. Ara and his wife Anet arrived in the US as refugees from Iran in 2010. God has blessed them with two young children, Emily and Evan. Now US Citizens, Ara's family continues to pour out their lives among the Iranians of Los Angeles and is excited to lead Grace Iranian Church. This is the second church Ara has planted since his arrival in the US. Ara loves the color blue, Esteghlal soccer club, stubbornly resists interest in baseball and American football, but loves Southern BBQ.

Focused on teaching and community life. Jamie was born and raised in a Christian home in the state of Kansas, an unlikely place for a future Iranian pastor to grow up. He married his high school sweetheart, Ashley, and they have three children-- Asia, Judah and River. They served overseas among Farsi speakers for many years before settling in Los Angeles. Jamie enjoys kabab koobideh, ghormeh sabzi, passionately supports rival club Perspolis to annoy pastor Ara and hopes one day his Farsi is good enough to read the poetry of Hafez.

We believe that there is only one living and true God. He eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the same in essence and attributes, equal in power and glory. We believe that God, by His Word and for His own glory, created the heavens and earth out of nothing and has graciously given it to man as a gift to manage according to His purpose. God reveals Himself through that creation, His mighty deeds in history, the Scriptures and the Lord Jesus Christ. The triune God, not the creation, is the ultimate reality and standard for truth, beauty and good. The triune God has no need beyond Himself for relationship and love; the triune God models within Himself self-giving, love and relationship.Read More…
